GEA presents its full product portfolio at SPE Offshore 2017

Thursday, 10 August 2017 | 00:00

From 5th to the 8th of September 2017 in Aberdeen at the UK’s largest event dedicated to the oil & gas industry SPE Offshore, GEA will be showcasing its breadth of expertise in this market. GEA will be presenting equipment and services from gas compression solutions to centrifugal separation technology right through to refrigeration equipment and solutions.

For treating all kinds of liquids that are produced in drilling and production processes on offshore installations, GEA is offering an extensive range of centrifuges. Drilling fluids, for example, are continuously contaminated with sludge, salt water and oil residues and have to be continuously cleaned with decanter centrifuges so that they can be recycled into the process. “Proper solids control during drilling requires expertise in separation technology, because every mud is special,” says Nick Fernkorn, Head of Sales Steering & Support Separation for the Oil & Gas market at GEA.

Reliable solutions for cleaning produced and drain water

Increased volumes of Produced Water require treatment and separation as the reservoir is developed, in addition, drain water collected from various areas of the rig during drilling and production activities also require treatment. To protect the marine ecosystem, this water must be de-oiled to a legally specified level before it can be released into the sea. GEA plants for cleaning produced and drain water do this reliably and are used around the world on FPSOs as well as production and drilling platforms. GEA’s disc-stack centrifuges, however, do not only clean the water by separating the residual oil, they can just as well remove water, salt and solids from the crude oil that is extracted from the well. “Especially when it comes to older wells with heavy crude oil, only the high g-force produced by the rotating bowl in the centrifuge can properly tackle the small density difference between oil and water,” Nick Fernkorn elaborated further.

GEA offers high-performance equipment that meets the most stringent efficiency, safety and environmental requirements, for a wide range of highly specialized upstream and downstream applications in the petroleum industry. Powerful, high-speed centrifuges, tailor-made process cooling, tank/storage cooling, gas compression, small scale LNG, ATEX and API compressors and highly efficient vacuum technology are being successfully used in the exploration, production and processing of oil and gas and petrochemicals. GEA’s goal is to help developing new sources of oil and gas and to make the most efficient use of existing oil and gas fields on all continents and in all oceans.

More than 600 project references in refrigeration and compression

In addition, GEA offers cooling and gas compression combining proven expertise and an integrated approach to meeting client requirements. With more than 600 project references around the world, GEA cooling and compression technologies have demonstrated their capabilities in oil and gas, chemical, and petrochemical industrial contexts. GEA refrigeration and compression solutions deliver precision and flexibility across a range of technical specifications, including compressor technology, refrigerants, refrigeration temperatures, and power capacity via three different technologies: oil injected screw compressor packages, reciprocating compressor packages (horizontally opposed), centrifugal compressor packages (integrally geared). GEA starts from bare compressors to complete skid mounted packages, process design, process simulation, detailed engineering, documentation and drawings along with process guarantee and ends with commissioning & start-up activities.

Support throughout the entire life cycle of a plant and equipment

Excellent equipment or plants are one thing, the right service is another. With several options of the new service concept “GEA Service – For your continued success” GEA supports customers throughout the entire lifecycle of their installed systems and components: From project engineering, installation, and commissioning to maintaining and improving the performance of the customer’s plant and equipment.

Paul Leeman, GEA’s Head of Flow Components, Compression & Homogenization Sales in United Kingdom said: “We are delighted to be presenting our compressors to the oil & gas market at SPE Offshore. It’s been on our agenda for some time, especially with our OneGEA philosophy and structure now in place. We want to show our existing and new customers everything that GEA can offer under one roof.”
