Port of Roenne A/S delivers great results in a year marked by corona

Wednesday, 13 April 2022 | 16:00

2021 became a landmark for Port of Roenne A/S, that saw the result of recent years’ projects and expansion that have helped to strengthen the position as the Baltic Sea’s leading energy port.

Despite demands for distance, closure and cancellations, 2021 helped to initiate a new era for Port of Roenne A/S, that plays an active role in ensuring the green transition, both as a leading port in shipping offshore wind turbines in the Baltic Sea and by strengthening Bornholm’s position and plans as a green filling station for ships.

Port of Roenne A/S came out with a turnover in 2021 of almost 86 million DKK, which is almost the same result as the previous year. The result for 2021 landed at +17.7 million DKK, and it is considered satisfactory by the Board of Directors, not least in light of the effects the Covid-19 pandemic has had on the company’s finances.

Revenue is influenced by the fact that Port of Roenne A/S was a central part of the establishment of Denmark’s largest offshore wind farm (600MW) on Kriegers Flak, which supplies green electricity corresponding to the consumption of 600,000 households. The project was created in collaboration with international companies, such as Vattenfall, Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy and Muehlhan.

During 2021 the port has taken the first steps to secure Port of Roenne A/S a central position in the future markets for green fuels for ships. The port was involved in the launch of the Bornholm Bunker Hub consortium, where the port, together with a number of national and international players such as counts Molslinjen, Ørsted and Topsoe, are testing the possibility of making Bornholm a green petrol station.

At the beginning of the year, the port of Rønne set a new course towards 2026 with the strategy “Together we create” and a namechange to English, so that the port is now officially registered as both Rønne Havn A/S and Port of Roenne A/S.
