New rail connections to Rennes and Genk

Friday, 19 January 2024 | 17:00

Intermodal connection from Rennes to Antwerp
Be Modal is now offering a train connection between Rennes and Lille. From Lille, there is a smooth connection to Antwerp thanks to transport by Danser barge. As such, intermodal transport between Antwerp and the Brittany region is from now on possible.

The connection to Antwerp is an important asset for companies in Brittany, among others thanks to the wide range of maritime services to Africa departing from Antwerp. Moreover, Be Modal’s railcars can transport any size of container or swap body and are also suitable for refrigerated transport.

This multimodal connection saves approximately 80% of CO2 emissions per railcar between Rennes and Lille, given that the locomotives are 100% battery powered and avoid road congestion.

The train service departs Rennes on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. A train leaves from Lille on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.

Direct rail connection between Genk and Zeebrugge
Port of Genk is starting a new rail service from their terminal in Genk to the P&O Ferries terminal in Zeebrugge. Other Zeebrugge terminals can be added upon request. The train will carry containers (of 20, 30, 40 and 45 feet), swap bodies and trailers.

Three train journeys per week have been scheduled. Departures from Genk take place on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. From Zeebrugge, the train departs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
