Freight Investor Services (FIS), the leading freight and commodity brokerage, has announced today the launch of a Liquid Petroleum Gas (LPG) Desk, expanding its derivatives offering and enabling clients to manage risk in one of the most dynamic areas of the energy market.
The desk will be led by Rohan Unni, an industry veteran with nearly two decades in the LPG industry, supported by Jules Emmet, Morison Woo, Benjamin Stephens, and Ivan Teo. Based across Singapore, Dubai, and London, the team strengthens FIS’s growing energy business and global coverage.
As global demand for LPG continues to grow, adding LPG derivatives allows FIS to meet this demand while sitting naturally alongside its established positions in fuel oil and FFAs. As a long-standing leader in FFAs, FIS will also bring the expertise and platform needed to support the new team in developing the Baltic LPG FFA market.
This FIS LPG desk will provide clients with access to global markets, focusing on derivative contracts across C3 Propane, C4 Butane, C5 Naphtha, Belvieu and LPG FFA benchmarks on ICE and CME.
George Dranganoudis, CEO of FIS said:
“We are delighted to welcome Rohan and the team to FIS. Their expertise and track record make them an ideal group to lead our expansion into LPG derivatives. This launch not only broadens the products we can offer our clients but also marks an important step in the continued build-out of our energy business.
With global consumption estimated to be over 300 million metric tonnes and seaborne exports rising to some 78 million tonnes, this growing market is an excellent addition to our product suite of freight, energy and commodity products.”
Rohan Unni, Global Head of LPG added:
“I am delighted to be joining a company with FIS’s pedigree in both commodities and, critically, shipping, at a time when the firm is investing in new markets and services. FIS’s well-established presence in China presents an exciting opportunity for us to deepen our coverage in that market. We will be using our team’s experience to continue supporting clients with tailored risk-management solutions and access to globally exchange-traded contracts. And I am especially thrilled to be building this alongside my new colleagues at FIS.”
LPG is a versatile energy source, mainly consisting of propane and butane and used for heating, cooking, transportation, and industrial processes.
