As part of its continuing success in the shipping industry, the international alliance G6, consisting of Shipping Lines Hapag-Lloyd, NYK, OOCL, APL, HMM, and MOL, has included the Suez Canal Container Terminal (SCCT) as one of the terminals at which its vessels will berth during voyages connecting Europe and Asia on the EUM
service.
SCCT received the containers vessel COLOMBO EXPRESS on July 30, with the capacity of 8,749 TEU, hoisting the German flag.
SCCT Managing Director, Mr. Klaus Holm Laursen, noted that the new service is a reflection of the important role SCCT plays on the international shipping industry scene and the high quality of services offered at the terminal.
"We are glad with every progress we achieve at the terminal," said Mr. Klaus Holm Laursen.
"Every move forward makes us realize the significance of the efforts we exert to satisfy our clients. Today, we are happy to receive a new shipping service whose selection of SCCT is an indication of the efficiency of the terminal."
"The inclusion of SCCT on the map for many commercial voyages is an advantage not just for SCCT but for the Egyptian economy as well, because it will facilitate the import and export activities of the country," he added.
It is also important to note that receiving the new service will have a positive impact on the maritime transport sector in Egypt as a whole, which Mr. Holm Laursen believes will help the country realizes its potential as a major shipping hub in the region connecting East to West.
