Beijing tightens COVID-19 control measures for cold chain shipping

Monday, 31 January 2022 | 17:00

Beijing recently began requiring truck drivers to provide negative COVID-19 nucleic acid test results and valid health codes in order to engage in cold chain logistics operations, according to the city’s transport authorities.

In a move to ensure good traffic conditions during the Chinese New Year holiday season and for the upcoming Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics, the capital city has implemented a series of traffic management measures. The traffic authority has also carried out special checks on cabs, cold-chain shipping vehicles, inter-provincial buses, and other vehicles in key areas such as airports, bus stations, cold storage facilities, and around major traffic hubs and routes.

Since the start of the Spring Festival travel season on Jan. 17, some 9,000 law-enforcement personnel were sent to investigate and deal with over 1,300 cases of rule-breaking and illegal activities, including 31 that were charged with violating COVID-19 regulations.
