U.S. spot natural gas prices at the Henry Hub (NG-W-HH-SNL) benchmark in Louisiana rose to a three-year high for the month of May, according to pricing data from financial firm LSEG.
Gas prices averaged $3.12 per million British thermal units (mmBtu) in May, their highest for that month since 2022. That compares with a 4-year low of $2.12 in May 2024 and a five-year (2020-2024) average of $3.41 for the month.
So far in 2025, prices at the Henry Hub have averaged $3.80. That compares with a four-year low of $2.19 in full-year 2024 and a five-year average of $3.42.
