Taiwan’s state-owned energy firm CPC Corp. is seeking to buy one spot October jet fuel cargo, multiple trade sources said on Monday, marking its first procurement tender for the fuel this year.
The firm is hoping to procure 300,000 barrels of the aviation fuel for Oct. 1-20 delivery to either one or two berths in Taiwan, they added.
The tender closes on Sept. 18 and is valid until Sept. 20.
CPC Corp procured jet fuel in December 2023, for delivery in January this year, Reuters data showed, adding that the refiner bought two cargoes of 300,000 barrels last year.
The buying is due to lower refinery production of the fuel due to an overhaul at one of its jet fuel and kerosene processing units between now and October, one of the sources said.
Taiwan’s other main refiner, Formosa Petrochemical Corp, is also shutting one of its crude units and other refining units for maintenance this week.
