Middle East Crude-Dubai, Oman slide on persistent selling

Middle East crude benchmarks Dubai and Oman dipped for a fourth consecutive session, weighed down by persistent selling.

Three more deliveries of August-loading crude cargoes emerged on Tuesday, including two Upper Zakum crude cargoes and one Oman crude cargo.

India’s Bharat Petroleum Corp BPCL.NS plans to shut down half of its crude processing capacity at its 240,000 barrel-per-day (bpd) Mumbai refinery in western India for a month from Sept. 21 for maintenance, a company spokesman said on Tuesday.

The refiner plans to shut a 120,000 bpd crude unit, a fluid catalytic cracker (FCCU), continuous catalytic reformer, and a catalytic cracker among other units at the refinery, he said.

SINGAPORE CASH DEALS

Cash Dubai’s premium to swaps dipped 1 cent to $1.49 a barrel on Tuesday, while three cargoes of August-loading crude were delivered.

Unipec delivered one cargo of Oman and one cargo of Upper Zakum to Totsa. Separately, Vitol delivered one cargo of Upper Zakum to Totsa.

These brought the number of total deliveries in the month to 60 so far.

Colombia’s Ecopetrol has managed to sustain sales to Asia at about 45% of its crude oil production, though rival Russian oil is forcing it to offer deeper discounts, a senior executive said on Monday.

Malaysia’s state energy firm Petronas sees its domestic oil and gas production peaking at about 2 million barrels of oil equivalent per day (boepd) by 2024, its exploration head said on Tuesday.

Five activist groups have sued French oil major TotalEnergies for a second time over its projects in Uganda and Tanzania in a Paris civil court, they said on Tuesday, after an earlier fast-track attempt was dismissed in February.
