Nigeria’s Lekki Deep Sea Port in talks with operators for liquid berth terminals

Thursday, 29 December 2022 | 01:00

Nigeria’s multipurpose Lekki Deep Sea Port is in talks with potential operators of liquid berth terminals, which is essential to the construction of Phase 2 of the project, The Guardian newspaper reported, citing Lekki Port LFTZ Enterprise Limited Chief Operating Officer Laurence Smith.

The full commercial operation is slated to commence at the end of the first quarter of 2023, he said, adding trial operations will start once the company completes the installation of necessary equipment and infrastructure.

In November, China Harbour Engineering LFTZ Enterprise, a subsidiary of China Harbour Engineering Company Limited, and the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contractor for the project, announced the completion of the construction of Phase 1.

The EPC contract for Phase 1 was valued at $581 million.
