Russia’s offline primary oil refining capacity has been revised up by 19.2% for May from the previous plan to 3.392 million metric tons, which is about 12% of the total capacity of Russia’s primary refining units, according to Reuters calculations based on data from industry sources.
The revision has been made as some large refineries changed their maintenance plans. The idle refining capacity is also below April’s level by some 27.9%, according to the calculations.
For June, Russia’s offline primary oil refining capacity is seen declining from May by 41% to 1.936 million tons.
Meanwhile, if the several shutdowns of Russian refiners roll over to the next month, a decline in offline capacity in June will be much smaller – just 18% to current May plan, to 2.680 million tons, the calculations show.
