Closelink and StormGeo integration improves lubricant management

Tuesday, 02 September 2025 | 00:00

Closelink GmbH, a maritime technology company specialising in marine lubricant procurement, and StormGeo, a global leader in weather intelligence and voyage optimization solutions, have successfully integrated their platforms. The new connection enables automatic transfer of noon reporting data from StormGeo’s s-Insight solution into Closelink’s digital procurement platform, giving shipping companies greater visibility and control over lubricant inventory and planning.

The integration addresses a common challenge in maritime operations: the gap between onboard stock data and onshore procurement processes. By synchronising this information, shipping companies can move from reactive ordering to proactive planning – reducing operational risks and avoiding costly last-minute orders.

The solution leverages StormGeo’s ship-to-shore reporting system, installed on over 5,000 vessels worldwide, to capture and validate Remaining-On-Board (ROB) data through more than 1,500 vessel-specific plausibility checks. Validated data is automatically transmitted into Closelink, where it is used to trigger alerts, and optimise planning and ordering. Separate manual reporting is no longer required, allowing procurement teams to work with up-to-date information and streamline day-to-day operations.

Closelink’s platform brings transparency and automation to lubricant procurement, helping teams manage demand, plan deliveries, place orders, and track performance, all in one place. By automating real-time data collection from sources like StormGeo, and providing actionable insights, Closelink empowers procurement teams to forecast demand more accurately, avoid urgent orders, and ensure a consistent lubricant supply across their fleets.

“One of the biggest barriers to effective procurement is fragmented information,” said Philippe Lavarde, CEO and co-founder of Closelink. “By integrating with StormGeo, we’re removing that friction for mutual users, making it easier to work with aggregated data to focus on the decisions that matter.”

For StormGeo, the partnership enhances its offering of integrated shipboard data solutions. “We value partnerships with specialised platforms that bring real, operational benefits to our clients. We see Closelink as a key contributor in providing the detailed insights our clients need for their lubricants inventory and procurement”, says Till F. Braun, Solution Sales Manager at StormGeo.“

The integration is already live, with shipping companies like OKEE Maritime GmbH (Hamburg, Germany) among the first to benefit. As digital transformation accelerates in the maritime sector, Closelink and StormGeo anticipate growing interest from fleets looking to cut costs, improve supply chain visibility, and concentrate operational data in connected environments.
