Kazakhstan’s average daily oil output in October was down 20% from September, two sources familiar with the data said on Friday, complying with the country’s OPEC+ quota, according to Reuters calculations.

Oil output in the Central Asian nation fell to 5.448 million metric tons last month from 6.549 million tons in September, the sources said, citing maintenance at the Kashagan oilfield.

That means that daily output was about 150,000-185,000 barrels lower than the country’s OPEC+ quota of 1.468 million barrels per day (bpd), depending on the ratio used for the conversion of tons into barrels.

Kazakhstan had planned to produce 265,000 bpd less than its quota in October to offset earlier overproduction.

The sources also said the Karachaganak field, which produces gas condensate not covered by the OPEC+ agreement, increased output by 27% in October to 1.1 million tons after completing maintenance in September.

Kazakhstan’s energy ministry did not immediately reply to a request for comment.
