Russia bans gasoline exports by producers until August 31 amid high demand

Tuesday, 29 July 2025 | 20:00

Russia has imposed a temporary ban on gasoline exports by oil companies until August 31, the government said on Monday.

The move is aimed at keeping the domestic market stabilised during a period of high seasonal demand and ensuring sufficient fuel supplies for Russian farmers, it said.

Previously, export restrictions applied only to a limited volume of gasoline sold abroad by resellers, while major oil companies were still permitted to export.

Sources told Reuters last week that the restrictions will exclude supplies to the Moscow-led Eurasian Economic Union, a group of five former Soviet states, and to countries such as Mongolia with which Russia has intergovernmental agreements on fuel supplies.
