SulNOX scores in Indonesia with major patent

Tuesday, 02 July 2024 | 20:00

SulNOx, the green fueltech group active in shipping, mining and road transport, has gained a valuable patent in Indonesia.

The UK-listed company, which helps industry reduce emissions, lower fuel costs and meet sustainability targets, adds the patent to others granted for the US, Europe, Eurasia, Georgia, South Africa, Hong Kong and China.

They cover a range of versions of SulNOx conditioners which emulsify water, while increasing lubricity and oxygen availability to fuel, making it burn cleanly and more efficiently.

Indonesia is an important market for SulNOx. It extends access to global customers in several sectors including marine, mining, oil & gas, transportation and offshore companies.

Its population of more than 275 million is the world’s fourth largest, with car ownership growing and a retail market already serviced by SulNOx master distributor A&S International.

Indonesia is a global player in mining, estimated by the US government to supply more than a quarter of the world’s mineral supply. In addition, it is one of the largest maritime countries in the world, with key port cities Jakarta, Surabaya and Medan leading out of more than 2,000 ports throughout its 17,000 island archipelago.

Distributor Worldoils Pte Ltd is already working with SulNOx and generating strong interest from several large Indonesian shipping companies.

Ben Richardson CEO of SulNOx Ltd. commented:

“Indonesia is a major addition to our growing patent estate, representing a huge potential market for SulNOx across a variety of sectors and use cases. Alongside our strong partnerships for distribution in the region, this exciting new development equips us well to grow our revenue pipeline and address very significant client opportunities with immediate effect.”

SulNOx has made very significant progress in recent shipping trials so far showing consumption reductions of around 5% with operators piloting SulNOxEco conditioner.

Marfin Management has expanded its trial after initial tests cut bunker consumption by more than 6% and its CEO has since joined the board of SulNOx. Greece’s Seanergy and Spring Marine are both looking to adopt SulNOx products in their fleets to reduce fuel consumption and cut emissions.

Overall, SulNOxEco is presently in active trials or discussions with companies representing close to 6,000 vessels.
