China’s exports of refined oil products in August rose 8.5% year-on-year, according to customs data, but slowed from July when it recorded the highest monthly total since June 2024.
The category, which includes diesel, gasoline, aviation fuel, and marine fuel, totaled 5.33 million tons, down 0.13% from July.
Diesel exports rose 7.1% year-on-year to 940,000 tons, the highest monthly level since May 2024. In the first eight months of 2025, diesel exports were 31.8% lower at 4.57 million tons.
Gasoline exports stood at 850,000 tons in August, up 10% year-on-year. From January to August, China exported 5.67 million tons of gasoline, down 12.5% from the same period last year.
China’s aviation fuel exports rose 15.5% year-on-year to 1.8 million tons in August. In the first eight months, the fuel’s exports were up 5.7% year-on-year at 13.72 million tons.
The data also showed LNG imports fell 2.1% year-on-year to 6.35 million tons in August but reached the highest level since November 2024.
China’s LNG imports in the first eight months dropped 16.8% from the same period last year.
