Russia’s natural gas output rises 1.4% y/y in August- data

Russia produced 39.2 billion cubic metres (bcm) of natural gas in August, up 1.4% from the same month last year, according to data published on Wednesday by the Rosstat statistics office.

It was also an increase of 14.4% from July.

In the January-August period, natural gas output reached 341 bcm, down 12.7% from the same period in 2022.

Rosstat also said production of liquefied natural gas (LNG) declined 12% last month on an annual basis to 2.2 million metric tons, and was down 1.1% from July.

LNG output in January-August decreased by 5.3% year-on-year to 20.9 million metric tons, according to Rosstat.

Gasoline output reached 3.8 million metric tons in August, up 1.6% from a year earlier and an increase of 1.5% from July. For the first eight months of the year gasoline output reached 29.4 million tons, up 3.4% from the year-earlier period.

Diesel production was 7.7 million tons last month, an increase of 6.5% from August 2022 but 2.2% from July this year. Output of diesel in January-August rose by 6.8% year-on-year to 59.6 million tons.

Liquefied propane and butane output was 1.4 million tons in August, up 11.3% year-on-year and up 2.5% on the month. January – August production rose by 11.3% to 11.7 million metric tons, according to Rosstat.
