Tuesday, 06 August 2024 | 20:00

MISC Bhd announced that Captain Dr. Rajalingam Subramaniam (picture) is stepping down as its president and Group CEO on August 15, 2024.

After a distinguished career spanning over 40 years, Rajalingam will be succeeded by Zahid Osman, effective August 16, 2024.

Rajalingam’s tenure at MISC has been marked by various leadership roles, culminating in his appointment as president and Group CEO in October 2022.

His contributions have been pivotal to MISC’s growth, alongside his service in the global maritime industry, where he held notable positions such as board mMember of Gard P&I and executive committee member of the International Association of Independent Tankers Owners.

Meanwhile, Zahid, who has been with MISC Group since 2017, brings extensive experience from his previous tenure at the Shell Group.

He has held significant roles within MISC, including VP of Gas Assets & Solutions and Corporate Planning, and most recently as COO and President & CEO of AET.

His appointment follows MISC’s succession planning process.

“The board of directors and the management of MISC are grateful for Captain Dr. Rajalingam’s contributions to the organization and the industry,” MISC said.

In a separate announcement, Malaysia Marine and Heavy Engineering Holdings Bhd (MHB) disclosed that Rajalingam will also resign from his position as non-executive director, effective August 15, 2024.

His resignation comes as he decides to pursue other interests, MHB said.

MHB confirmed that there were no disagreements with the board of directors, and there are no issues that need to be brought to shareholders’ attention.

Captain Rajalingam has no conflicts of interest or family relationships with any directors or major shareholders of MHB, nor does he hold any interest in the securities of the company or its subsidiaries.
