SAILCARGO INC., a unique and progressive logistics company that uses environmentally sustainable shipping practices, is proud to announce that Julia Milmore will succeed to Danielle Doggett as CEO of the company, effective on November 1st 2022. Julia has extensive experience and knowledge in business management, marketing, sales and finance. She will be responsible for the company’s funding strategies, consolidating investments for the holding company and overseeing the marketing and communications department.
Eight years after founding SAILCARGO INC., Danielle Doggett is stepping down as the CEO to focus on her true passion: managing the company’s vessels. She will remain an integral part of SAILCARGO INC. as VEGA GAMLEBY is set to sail for its transatlantic crossing from Netherlands to Colombia in November 2022. Skilled in sailing, maritime operations, navigation and traditional rigging, Danielle will continue to advise the company as a member of the Board of Directors, alongside business experts from external companies.
“I am extremely proud of everything we have accomplished and the strong and experienced team we have put together over the years. While I’m stepping away from the day-to-day responsibilities of running the company, I’m still committed to our mission of proving the value of clean shipping. I know the company will be in good hands under Julia’s leadership given her extensive business management experience. I’m happy to go back to my roots and continue to support the growth of SAILCARGO INC. in the future,” explains Danielle Doggett, Founder at SAILCARGO INC.
Julia Milmore has worked in the past for organizations like BlackRock, the world’s largest asset manager, and brings great leadership to the position. Before joining SAILCARGO INC., Julia has worked at Cafe William for a decade, a company focused on roasting accessible organic and fair trade coffees of exceptional quality. SAILCARGO INC. and Café William have been partners since 2020 and are dedicated to delivering the first low emission sailing cargo ship, which will transport coffee beans from South America to New Jersey.
“Danielle is a visionary and a leader in the industry and I am honored to continue her legacy. Her leadership has seen a shipyard spring up out of the Costa Rican jungle, becoming the largest employer in the community. It’s an exciting time for SAILCARGO INC. as VEGA GAMLEBY, the company’s first ship in the water, will soon set sail for its transatlantic crossing to Colombia. Maritime transport is a crucial link in production of coffee and contributes to the overwhelming emissions of the shipping industry. By leveraging Café William’s market reach with the regenerative shipping model of the VEGA GAMLEBY, it is possible to lead the way towards a low emission world,” said Julia Milmore, CEO at SAILCARGO INC.
SAILCARGO INC.’s leadership team can also count on new executives with extensive expertise to further accelerate the growth of the company, including Thomas Cogram, Head Legal Aid; John Porras, Chief Executive, Operations and Finance; and Lynx Guimond, Chief Technical Director.
