Samsung Heavy Industries announced on the 17th that it has received orders for nine shuttle tankers from shipowners in the Oceania region.
The contract amount is approximately 1.9 trillion won (based on an exchange rate of 1,451.9 won to the dollar). Samsung Heavy Industries plans to deliver the vessels sequentially by the end of 2028.
Shuttle tankers are oil transportation vessels that regularly transport crude oil produced at offshore plants from the sea to onshore storage facilities. Including this order, Samsung Heavy Industries has secured 29 out of 51 shuttle tankers (57%) ordered globally over the past 10 years since 2016.
Including this shuttle tanker order, Samsung Heavy Industries has accumulated contracts worth $1.6 billion of its annual target of $9.8 billion for this year.
A representative from Samsung Heavy Industries said, “We will achieve this year’s order target through two key pillars: eco-friendly vessels and floating liquefied natural gas production, storage, and unloading facilities (FLNG).”
