Eni to receive increased gas volumes from Gazprom

Friday, 22 July 2022 | 00:00

Eni said on Thursday it would receive about 36 million cubic metres of gas from Russia’s Gazprom, up from the daily average volumes of the last 10 days.

In a note, Eni said it had been receiving some 21 million cubic metres per day.

The lower volumes had coincided with the beginning of the planned maintenance of the Nord Stream 1 pipeline, which transports gas from Russia to Germany.

Before then, Eni had said it had received a daily volume of about 32 million cubic metres.

On Thursday Russia resumed pumping gas through its biggest pipeline to Germany after a 10-day outage, the operator said, easing Europe’s supply concerns amid an economic tit-for-tat with the Kremlin over its invasion in Ukraine.

Italy is trying to wean itself off its reliance on Russian gas following the invasion of Ukraine in February and to build up reserves in time for winter when supplies could be strained.
