Italy does not rule out resuming natural gas imports from Russia if and when the war with Ukraine is over, the country’s Energy Minister Gilberto Pichetto Fratin said on Friday.
Speaking at a political event in Rome, Pichetto also said that Italy was desperate to reduce the cost of energy, adding lifting the ban on nuclear power generation could help cut energy bills for companies and families.
Italy, which used to buy nearly 40% of the gas it consumed from Moscow before the invasion of Ukraine, has gradually cut its Russian imports to a trickle.
