CKB Fleet List Pte Ltd, is pleased to announce with immediate effect that Charles Barton has joined forces with SPI Marine to launch the CKB Fleet List. The fleet list, originally created by Charles Barton and Ken Tree over 20 years ago, is considered the standard-bearer for commercial chemical tanker information. CKB Fleet List Pte Ltd, a separate company from SPI Marine’s transactional brokerage, has been created to ensure the market continues to be provided with the highest quality chemical tanker intelligence.
Mark Roberts, Group Chief Operating Officer of SPI Marine and formerly a leading analyst at the world’s largest shipbroker, has been appointed as the Chief Executive Officer of CKB Fleet List Pte Ltd and will be responsible for the venture. Charles Barton, the cofounder of CKB Fleet List, will remain closely involved as an advisor. “After considerable work from both Charles and the team, we are excited to launch the new product”, said Mark Roberts.
“The CKB Fleet List has been enhanced over the last two decades based on close interactions with a variety of leading clients across the industry – this collaborative approach has allowed us to create the largest refinery of chemical tanker fleet data in the market. We have transposed CKB’s extensive intellectual property into a leading database structure and customisable analytics portal – this allows users to pull up vessel particulars in an effective manner, and to follow future fleet trends at the click of a button.”
Commenting on the new venture, Charles Barton said, “The CKB Fleet List was created back in 2000 with the belief that the chemical tanker market could be made more efficient by having easily available fleet data. Future-proofing this work, by combining with the team at SPI Marine, was of paramount importance to me. I am impressed by how the historical database has been brought to life, and I am sure clients both existing and potential will continue to use it to validate their commercial decisions for years to come.”
