Brazil’s oil and gas output hits record 4.34 million boed in 2023

Monday, 05 February 2024 | 01:00

Brazil’s oil and gas production reached a record average of 4.34 million barrels of oil equivalent per day in 2023, data from oil regulator ANP showed on Friday.

The figure was 11.69% above the previous record, registered in 2022, and also the first time that the country produced more than 4 million boed, ANP said.

Accounting only for oil, production grew 12.6% from the previous year to 3.40 million bpd. Around 75% of that came from Brazil’s pre-salt, an oil-rich offshore region off the country’s southeastern Atlantic coast.

Natural gas output stood at 150 million cubic meters per day in 2023.

In December alone, oil and gas output reached 4.57 million boed.
