Import and export traffic at Valenciaport in the first five months of the year has increased by 4.72% and 17.89%, respectively. However, transshipment containers are beginning to show signs of a slowdown. In the first five months of the year, full transshipment TEUs declined by 0.95%, and empty ones dropped by 17.31%. This trend continued in May; despite the decline in transshipment volumes, the month still closed with total traffic exceeding half a million containers handled (526,814), which is 7,386 fewer containers than in the same month last year — a decrease of 1.38%.

So far this year, 2,345,718 containers have been loaded and unloaded at Valenciaport terminals — a 4.6% increase compared to the same period last year.

Looking at a year-over-year perspective, according to the Statistical Bulletin of the Port Authority, Valenciaport is currently handling 5,580,230 containers — a growth of 10.26%.

Zooming in on traffic by country, Algeria stands out with a remarkable increase of 30.80% in cargo tonnage and 60% in containers so far this year. This growth can be attributed to the recovery of trade relations between Spain and the North African country. Algeria has now become Valenciaport's fourth-largest trade partner by tonnage (over 2 million tons in five months) and third-largest in container traffic (134,729 TEUs).

China and the United States remain in the top two positions in Valenciaport's trade rankings.

As for passenger traffic, 56,654 regular line passengers passed through the Port of València in May (a 7.74% increase), along with 90,979 cruise passengers — a 6.67% decrease compared to May of the previous year.
