PetroVietnam Gas seeks LNG supply for Dec-Jan delivery, sources say

Monday, 11 November 2024 | 21:00

PetroVietnam Gas is seeking a partial cargo of liquefied natural gas (LNG) for delivery between December and early January, two industry sources said on Monday.

It is seeking 2,500,000 million British thermal units (mmBtu) of LNG to be delivered to the Thi Vai terminal between Dec. 20 and Jan. 5, in a tender that closes on Tuesday.
PetroVietnam Gas is seeking the partial cargo to commission the Nhon Trach 3 and 4 power plants, added one of the sources.

Vietnam state media reported in September that Nhon Trach 3, the country’s first power plant running solely on LNG, will start test runs in October, five months later than the previous target date. Commercial operations will begin from April next year.

The nearby Nhon Trach 4 plant is expected to start commercial power generation in July 2025, the report added, two months behind schedule.

Both the plants have a combined capacity of 1.5 gigawatts (GW), and are being developed by PetroVietnam Power Corp.
