Tanzania ports authority opens offices in landlocked neighbors

Saturday, 21 May 2022 | 00:00

The Tanzania Ports Authority (TPA) has opened liaison offices in neighboring landlocked countries to attract more business, Prime Minister Kassim Majaliwa said on Thursday.

The TPA has opened offices in Rwanda, Malawi, Zambia and the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), he told lawmakers in the capital, Dodoma.

“The offices have been tasked to attract businessmen using Tanzania’s ports,” Majaliwa said.

The move followed the upgrading of the ports of Dar es Salaam, Mtwara and Tanga, he said.

Majaliwa was responding to a question in parliament about government measures to attract traders from neighboring countries to use the country’s upgraded ports.
