Valenciaport chairs the MEDports Training & Cooperation Committee in Casablanca

Valenciaport inaugurates in Casablanca the presidency of the MEDports Training and Cooperation Committee. Manuel Rodriguez, head of International Relations and European Policies of the Port Authority of València (PAV), led the annual meeting of the Committee responsible for identifying the training needs of the employees of the 25 Mediterranean partner port authorities and for developing the strategy to be followed in terms of cooperation and digitisation.

The meeting reviewed the activities carried out by the Committee in 2023 in terms of training courses, an assessment of the lines of collaboration developed with other associations and also marked the lines for the development of a proposal for actions framed in the Medports 2024 strategy.

Likewise, at the meeting held in Casablanca, the Valenciaport Foundation made its debut as an associate member of the Committee and actively participated in the development of the agenda and the selection of the topics to be addressed. Ana Rumbeu, Director of Training at the Valenciaport Foundation, was in charge of coordinating this work in situ.

Mediterranean Allies

MEDports has three working groups, including the Cooperation & Partnership Committee, dedicated to working on issues of cooperation, digitalisation and training, which has been led by Valenciaport since June this year. The aim of the organisation, founded in 2018, is to promote collaboration between Mediterranean ports to meet the new challenges of international trade and logistics, while highlighting the centrality and importance of the Mediterranean in the new global trade flows. The ports that form part of this organisation of international projection are those of Algeciras, Arzew, Barcelona, Bastia, Bejaia, Beirut, Cartagena, Civitaveccia, Damiette, Luka Loper, Malta Freeport, Marseille Fos, the Tunisian Merchant Navy Office, Skikda, Serport, Tarragona, Toulon, València, Venice, the National Port Agency of Morocco, the ports of Alexandria, Durres and Thessaloniki.
