Russia’s ability to produce diesel and gasoline is expected to fall sharply in September as seasonal maintenance at oil refineries peaks, Reuters calculations based on industry sources’ data showed.
According to the data, idle gasoline production capacity is set to rise by 71% this month from August to 30,900 metric tons per day (around 264,195 barrels per day), while offline diesel production capacity is expected to jump by 88% from last month to 45,400 tons per day (around 337,776 barrels per day).
That accounts for 21% of Russia’s total gasoline production capacity, up from 11% in August, and 15% for diesel output capacity, also up from 8% last month.
Russian authorities have said there is enough fuel to meet domestic demand and provide gasoline and diesel for farmers during the harvesting campaign, while restrictions on gasoline exports remain in place.
Fuel refining capacity is not expected to change much in October, according to the sources.
Russia’s offline primary oil refining capacity in September is set to jump 34% from August, according to Reuters calculations based on data from industry sources, owing to technical outages, Ukrainian drone attacks and seasonal maintenance.
