The fleet of FSUE “Rosmorport” was replenished by the bilge water removing ships (BWR) Koporye and Koppi of the RST 38 project to operate in the seaports of Ust-Luga and Vanino, respectively. Environmental vessels were built by order of FSUE “Rosmorport” at Okskaya Shipyard, JSC (Navashino, Nizhny Novgorod Region).
The vessels are designed to collect oily water from vessels, sediment and separate it with further delivery of oil residues ashore to a storage, of separated clean water – ashore or overboard in authorized areas. Moreover, the vessels will be used to collect wastewater and garbage from vessels with its transportation and delivery to onshore treatment facilities.
With appropriate further equipment, Koporye and Koppi ships can be used as an auxiliary transport to deliver Oil Spill Response oil-gathering equipment and booms to the oil spill site (outside the accidental spill area). For this purpose, the BWR provide an innovative oil spill search system based on the processing and analysis of data received from a standard radar station using additional software.
The vessels have ice reinforcement and are built according to the rules and under the supervision of the Russian Maritime Register of Shipping. The design documentation was developed by Morskoye Injenernoye Bureau – SPb, JSC.

The Koporye and Koppi bilge water removing ships were laid for the needs of the North-Western and North-Eastern Basin Branches at the end of 2021. The vessels were launched in August and September 2023, respectively.
The Koporye vessel is named after the ancient fortress, which was founded in 1237 12 km south of the Gulf of Finland – in the southwest of the present Leningrad Region. Currently, the fortress is a monument of medieval defensive architecture.
The Koppi vessel took over the baton from the bilge water removing ship of the same name, built in 1978, which operated for a long time in the seaport of Vanino and is currently decommissioned. Koppi is the name of one of the rivers of the Sovetsko-Gavansky district of the Khabarovsk Territory.
