Gazprom Neft acquires bunkering terminal complex on the Black Sea

Gazpromneft Marine Bunker, the operator of Gazprom Neft’s bunker business, has acquired the assets of OOO Novorosnefteservis and OOO Novorossiysk Oil Transshipment Complex to provide the storage and transshipment ofthe marine oil that the company sells inthe Black Sea region. The new assets, located at the port ofNovorossiysk, have all of the infrastructure needed for transshipment and are designed for the storage of over 30,000 cubic meters ofpetroleum products at one time. The terminal’s convenient geographic location will make it possible to ensure that Gazpromneft Marine Bunker operates efficiently at all Black Sea ports.

For Gazprom Neft, the creation of the company’s own terminal network that consists of seven sites is one ofthe main goals of the company’s bunkering business strategy to2025. Gazpromneft Marine Bunker is already operating a terminal at the big port ofSaint Petersburg. The purchase of the second complex will enable the company to strengthen its position on the Black Sea.

At present, three Gazpromneft Marine Bunker tankers are operating inthe Black Sea region. They provide bunkerage at seaports inNovorossiysk, Tuapse, Temryuk, Taman, and Sochi, as well as atPort Kavkaz.

According to preliminary estimates, the Black Sea region market in2013 will amount to nearly 2.5 million tons. The region has one ofthe fastest-growing cargo turnovers in Russia, accounting for approximately 25percent of the total of all Russian ports.

“Gazprom Neft’s updated bunker business strategy not only involves developing the company’s own fleet, but creating a terminal network at key ports ofthe company’s operations as well. Gazpromneft Marine Bunker plans in the future to expand its range of fuels and to implement a project for the bunkerage of natural gas,” said Levan Kadagidze, Director of the Gazprom Neft Commercial Directorate.

Gazpromneft Marine Bunker is a subsidiary ofGazprom Neft established in 2007 for the provision of a year-round marine fuel and lubricant supply for sea and river transportation. The enterprise occupies leading positions on Russia’s bunkering market with an18.6 percent market share. Gazpromneft Marine Bunker’s total marine fuel sales volume in 2012 reached 2.5 million tons. The company’s direct delivery sales volume rose by 38 percent to1.8 billion tons.

At present, Gazpromneft Marine Bunker has nine regional representative offices and four subsidiaries. Gazpromneft Shipping manages the company’s fleet. Gazpromneft Terminal SPb operates a bunkering oil terminal at the Kirov Works inSaint Petersburg. The bunkering company Marine Bunker Balkan S.A. sells marine fuels at the Black Sea port of Constanța, Romania. AS Baltic Marine Bunker conducts bunkering operations at the Baltic Sea Port of Tallinn, Estonia.

Gazpromneft Marine Bunker occupies strong positions at all key sea and river ports inRussia. At present, the company has the broadest geographical scope of operations in Russia out of all Russian bunkering companies.
