Azerbaijani oil exports through the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) pipeline via Georgia and Turkey rose by 6.8% year-on-year to 4.7 million tonnes in the first two months of this year, the State Statistics Committee said on Monday.

The BTC pipeline is used to export oil from Azerbaijan’s Chirag and Guneshli oilfields operated by BP.

Azerbaijan’s oil exports in the first two months of this year totalled 6.3 million tonnes, about 74.9% of which was via the BTC pipeline.

The volume of transit oil through the BTC rose to 842,900 tonnes in January-February, up from 711,500 tonnes a year earlier.
