China’s August fuel oil imports fell 23% year-on-year in August, to 1.46 million metric tons, or about 298,570 barrels per day (bpd), China’s customs data showed on Saturday.
That was also down 26% month-on-month from July.
Exports of low-sulphur marine fuels totalled 1.64 million tons, up 13% from July and 12% year-on-year.
Marine fuel prices at Chinese bunker ports Shanghai and Zhoushan climbed in August amid bullish sentiment.
China’s latest issuance of low-sulphur marine fuel allowances was lower than the 1 million tons issued in the same batch a year ago.
The table below shows China’s fuel oil exports and imports in metric tons.
