Achieving emissions compliance in the Maritime industry can be straightforward, whether for OEM requirements or developing emission control solutions to upgrade systems.
Recognising the complexities of complying with Stage V Inland Waterways regulations, IMO Tier III legislation and global Emission Control Areas (ECA) leading manufacturer of Emission Control Solutions, Eminox, has launched a new online free Global Emissions Standards Reference Guide to help ship builders, vessel operators and engineers take the next step towards efficient emissions management.
“This guide has been developed to support procurement specialist and engineers in the Maritime sector and is designed to be used alongside the expert knowledge our team can offer,” said James Thorpe, Eminox’s Business Development Manager. “We recognise the complexity of finding suitable OEM solutions or solutions to upgrade non-compliant vessels to meet current standards – this guidance document allows industry professionals to understand the different compliance requirement.”
The guide, alongside Eminox’s experts who have decades of experience across a variety of on- and off-road industries, can recommend the most efficient solutions to reduce NOx and PM emissions to near-zero levels. The aim is to help its Maritime customers meet regulations, keep vessels operational, and extend the lifespan of older vessels pre-dating current emissions standards.
“We offer a range of emissions control systems which reduce exhaust gases for a wide range of power outputs, meeting Stage V and IMO Tier III legislation for NOx and PM reduction,” said James. “Our modular, scalable solutions use a standard range of components, are real-world tested and can be customised to suit specific decarbonisation needs.”
The systems use SCR technology for NOx reduction, with additional DOC (diesel oxidation catalyst) and DPF (diesel particulate filter) components for PM removal.
Ongoing collaboration with researchers and manufacturers to integrate emerging alternative fuel solutions with its emission control systems will allow a seamless transition recognising the requirement for SCR technology to reduce NOx.
