Russia’s Sakhalin-2 LNG plant resumes loadings after maintenance, LSEG data shows

Monday, 07 July 2025 | 20:00

Russia’s Sakhalin-2 liquefied natural gas (LNG) plant has resumed loadings after planned maintenance, LSEG data showed on Monday and an industry source said.

LNG tanker The Grand Cosmos has moored at the Prigorodnoye terminal on Sakhalin for loading and its departure is expected on July 8, according to LSEG.

The last time LNG was loaded from the Sakhalin plant was on June 17, LSEG data showed.

According to the industry source, the suspension of shipments was due to scheduled maintenance at the plant, which traditionally takes place during the summer months.

The project’s operator, Sakhalin Energy, did not respond to a request from Reuters.

Gazprom owns almost 77.5% of Sakhalin Energy, which is located on the southern tip of Sakhalin. Other shareholders include Japanese companies Mitsui (12.5%) and Mitsubishi (10%).
