Prices fall on expected Norwegian supply increase

Friday, 25 July 2025 | 00:00

Dutch wholesale gas prices fell on Thursday morning as Norwegian supply was expected to increase after maintenance at a gas field ends tomorrow.

The benchmark Dutch front-month contract at the TTF hub (TRNLTTFMc1) was down 0.77 euro at 32.70 euros per megawatt hour (MWh) by 0826 GMT, LSEG data showed.

The September contract was 0.80 pence lower at 33.08 euros/MWh.

Norwegian pipeline gas supply is expected to rise from tomorrow when a maintenance outage at the Troll field ends.

Liquefied natural gas send-out is also expected to increase slightly. A total of 18 cargoes are scheduled to arrive at European terminals over the next two weeks.

On the demand side, demand for gas from power plants in north-west Europe is expected to fall tomorrow and at the weekend due to increasing nuclear output and solar generation, LSEG data showed.

In the British market, the August price (TRGBNBPMQ5) was up 0.59 pence at 78.90 pence per therm.

In the European carbon market, the benchmark contract (CFI2Zc1) inched up by 0.07 euro to 69.43 euros a metric ton.
