Pilbara Ports delivered a total monthly throughput of 63.3 million tonnes (Mt) for October 2023, consistent with throughput in the previous year.

The Port of Port Hedland achieved a monthly throughput of 47.7Mt, of which 46.9Mt was iron ore exports, consistent with throughput in the previous year.

Imports through the Port of Port Hedland totalled 179,000 tonnes, an increase of 11 per cent compared to October 2022.

The Port of Dampier delivered a total throughput of 14.7Mt, a one per cent decrease from October 2022.

Imports through the Port of Dampier totalled 105,000 tonnes, a decrease of nine per cent from October 2022.

Several factors influence the fluctuation of monthly throughput, including changes in market conditions, port maintenance operations and proponent needs.

Total throughput across all ports since 1 July 2023 is 246.4Mt.
