Technical issues affecting plan to send gas from France to Germany now solved -operator

Tuesday, 11 October 2022 | 00:00

Technical problems affecting plans to send gas from France to Germany via a pipeline have been solved, gas network operator GRTgaz said on Monday, as the euro zone’s biggest economy rushes to replace Russian gas.

“The technical difficulties associated with the reversal of flows could indeed be resolved,” a spokesman for the French grid operator told Reuters.

Germany will import gas from France as it reduces imports from Russia as a result of the war in Ukraine.

GRTgaz had announced gas deliveries to Germany should start this week, using a link between the two countries which had previously flowed in the opposite direction carrying gas to France.
GRTgaz did not say when and at what volumes the French gas exports will start. Flows were still halted on Monday morning, data from the operator showed.
