BNCT supports WWF and JEJU PASS’s  “Plastic Free Challenge”

Wednesday, 13 March 2019 | 20:00

As part of the joint campaign initiated by WWF(World Wildlife Fund) and JEJU PASS to stop using plastic, Mr. John ELLIOTT, CEO and President of BNCT Korea’s newest and most modern container terminal in Busan, was nominated by Mr. K.C NAM, BPA CEO to participate.

Mr. John ELLIOTT gladly accepted this challenge together with BNCT staff stating that “we too are concerned about environmental issues such as the recent increase in fine-dust as well as prolific plastic waste everywhere.  This challenge fits well with us because BNCT puts safety and environmental priorities at the top of our company agenda.  We are always seeking ways to improve ourselves as well as to have a positive impact on national and global environmental efforts wherever possible, which is why I’m happy to nominate J.S. Kim, Director of Busan MOF and H.C. LIM, Head of New Port Customs Office to also accept this “Plastic Free Challenge”.

BNCT Co., Ltd. is an independent full-service container terminal with 2.5 million TEU capacity which will increase to over 3.2 million TEU capacity in 2020 when its phase-2 expansion is completed with the addition of five more yard blocks and three more STS cranes capable of handling 20,000+ TEU class vessels. As the most advanced terminal in Korea and the 1st vertical-automated in Asia, BNCT can berth 3 of the world’s largest container vessels simultaneously at 1400 meters of Quay with 16-17m water draft with the biggest and most technologically advanced equipment to match.

BNCT is designed to offer unrivaled performance, reliability and service compared to any other terminal in Korea. Because of BNCT’s semi-automated, vertical to the quay, terminal design our state of art equipment can operate to their maximum potential without having to wait for the previous or next process to finish before working which fully optimizes productivity. And all this is supported by the most modern terminal operating system and industry leading automation technology.
