Draft restriction at Liquid Bulk Terminal

Following the completion of dredging at the Liquid Bulk Terminal in Theodore, the maximum draft at the Liquid Bulk Terminal has reverted to 40 feet MLLW.

Soil investigation off Tuas View

From 15 June to 15 August, soil investigation works will be conducted off Tuas View.

According to the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore’s Port Marine Notice No.67 of 2015, the works will be carried out 24 hours daily – including Sundays & Public Holidays – within the working area at the following borehole points (WGS 84 Datum):

BH-X1) 01 deg. 13.472’N / 103 deg. 36.930’E

BH-X2) 01 deg. 13.330’N / 103 deg. 36.930’E

The soil investigation work will be carried out by borehole drilling using jackup barges.

The jack-up barges, with tug boats in attendance, will have a circular safety working zone of 50 meters radius centered at the barge. Tugboats will be used for shifting the barge from one borehole location to another. Safety boats will be deployed in the vicinity of the working areas to warn other craft of the project work.

Craft involved in the works will exhibit the appropriate local and international day and night signals.

When in the vicinity of the working area, mariners are reminded to:

a) Keep well clear and not to enter the working area;

b) Maintain a proper lookout;

c) Proceed at a safe speed and navigate with caution;

d) Maintain a listening watch on VHF Channel 22 (Jurong Control);

and

e) Communicate with Jurong Control on VHF Channel 22 for assistance, if required.

Port charges effective 1 July 2015

Darwin Port Corporation has advised that, effective 1 July 2015, port charges will be indexed by 0.8% applying the Darwin All Groups CPI for the March 2015 quarter.

With the low percentage change of less than 1% most standard port charges will see a very minimal increase and some tariffs were not indexed at all.

Changes to tariffs include:

– Reduction of the crane hire rate of $202.87 to $190.00 per hour and the introduction of a minimum hire period for after hours and weekend hire;

– Pilot detention of greater than 30 minutes will be charged at 25% of the standard pilotage otherwise applicable for each successive 30 minute block;

– Introduction of electricity and storage charges for 40 FT reefer containers;

– Introduction of infrastructure support contribution for visiting foreign navy berthing at Fort Hill Wharf or East Arm Wharf at the rate of 25 cents per GRT per day.

Changes to towage rates

Coastal Tug & Barge Pty Ltd has announced an increase of 2.1% to its towage rates across all tug services at the port of Darwin, to come into effect from 1 August 2015.
