“The FULMAR S is the first vessel to enter our sea port for loading since the beginning of the full-scale invasion. The guarantors of the agreement, Turkey and the UN, have confirmed that it is possible for the vessel to enter the port of Chiornomorsk”, according to Oleksandr Kubrakov, the Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine.

The final destination of the vessel after unloading is the port of Iskenderun in Turkey.

“We are planning to quickly load the vessel and send it to the destination port. With that, we are ready to facilitate the capacity of the ports to handle at least 100 vessels a month”, the minister added.

As of today, 13 more vessels are said to be waiting to leave the Ukrainian ports.

“We are expecting that with the help of the guarantors of the Initiative, we will be able to export 3 million tonnes or more of agricultural produce a month from the Odesa, Chornomorsk, and Pivdennyi (South) ports in the very near future”, Kubrakov stated.

Previously:

The day before, the representatives of the Joint Coordination Centre in Istanbul inspected the first vessel which is going to the Ukrainian port for loading with Ukrainian grain.

The first vessel to go through the grain corridor to Ukraine was the Fulmar S cargo ship under the flag of Barbados.

Background:

Within the framework of the Initiative on the Safe Transportation of Grain and Foodstuffs, the first convoy of ships with Ukrainian goods has left the ports of the “Odesa” and “Chornomorsk” sea ports.

The previous day, it was reported that on Friday, 5 August, three more vessels will leave Ukrainian Black Sea ports with exports of foodstuffs, particularly grain.

The representatives of Ukraine, Turkey, the UN and Russia in the Joint Coordination Centre have finished the inspection of the first vessel with grain, which had left Ukraine on 1 August.

After the inspection, the vessel will deliver its cargo of 26,000 tonnes of corn to the Tripoli sea port in Lebanon.

On the morning of 1 August, the Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine reported that the Razoni, a vessel under the flag of Sierra Leone left the port of Odesa with 26 tonnes of Ukrainian corn.

This is the first time since the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion that a grain carrier left the port of Odesa. It became possible thanks to the agreements reached in Istanbul with the mediation of Turkey and the UN.
