Incheon Port Authority Successfully Completes Port Sales Events in Singapore, Thailand

Thursday, 28 February 2019 | 16:00

Incheon Port Authority (IPA) announced on Feb. 23 that it successfully held port sales events in Singapore and Thailand for five days from Feb. 18 to 22, which were led by Lee Jeong-haeng, vice president of the Operations Division.

The IPA sales team visited global shipping companies’ Asian headquarters in Singapore to persuade them to use Incheon Port. It also visited logistics companies and shippers in Thailand, who already use Incheon Port for their export and import businesses, to increase their cargo volume.

In Singapore, the sales team shared the current operational status and development plans of Inchon Port with global shipping companies, persuading them to secure new berths at the port.

The global shipping companies that the IPA team visited this time have a potential cargo volume that could be more efficiently handled at Incheon Port. Accordingly, the sales team explained how they could reduce logistical costs by using Incheon Port.

In Thailand, the sales team focused on boosting the cargo volume that Thai companies handle in Incheon Port and addressing the problems they face. Thailand ranked third in 2018 in terms of container volume among countries that use Incheon Port.

In particular, Thailand has shown rapid growth in both importation and exportation after China and Vietnam. The IPA sales team visited logistics and shipping companies and explained the geographical advantages of Incheon Port in order to increase their cargo volume.

In addition, the sales team built up networks with Thai agencies related to the shipping business in a bid to attract more cargo volume from Thailand.

Lee said, “Through the latest port sales events, we have solidified the foundation to make Incheon Port a global logistics center. More ships will come to Incheon Port and the cargo volume from Southeast Asia will increase. We will make every effort to jump into a global leading port.”
