Norway’s oil production fell 11.4 percent in February year-on-year to 1.39 million barrels per day and lagged the official forecast for the month by 3.6 percent, Norway’s Petroleum Directorate (NPD) said on Friday.

Technical problems at some fields was the main reason why oil production was below forecast, NPD said.

February natural gas output rose 1.7 percent over the same period to 362.5 million cubic metres per day, exceeding the NPD’s forecasts by 2.1 percent, it added.

For the whole of February, the natural gas production of Europe’s second largest gas supplier, after Russia, stood at 10.2 billion cubic metres.
