Throughput of Russian seaports in January 2018 grew by 2.4% Y-o-Y to 61.9 million tonnes (detalization)

In January 2018, seaports of Russia handled 61.9 million tonnes of cargo (up 2.4%, year-on-year), says press center of the Association of Commercial Sea Ports.

Transshipment of dry cargo totaled 27.9 million tonnes (+11.0%) including 11.8 million tonnes of coal (+15.0%), 3.8 million tonnes of containerized cargo (+8.5%), 3.0 million tonnes of grain (+26.3%), 2.5 million tonnes of ferrous metal (+7.7%), 1.4 million tonnes of mineral fertilizers (-0.2%) and 217,000 tonnes of refrigerated cargo (-2.3%).

Transshipment of liquid bulk cargo totaled 34.0 million tonnes (-3.8%) including 19.9 million tonnes of crude oil (-2.7%), 11.8 million tonnes of oil products (-9.2%) and 1.7 million tonnes of liquefied gas (+29.6%).

Exports totaled 47.9 million tonnes (-0.2%), imports – 3.0 million tonnes (-0.2%), transit – 5.1 million tonnes (+19.0%), short-sea traffic – 5.8 million tonnes (+1.5%).

Operators of seaports in the Arctic Basin handled 6.7 million tonnes (+38.6%) including 2.4 million tonnes of dry bulk cargo (+46.3%) and 4.2 million tonnes of liquid bulk cargo (+34.5%). The port of Murmansk handled 4.6 million tonnes (+38.0%), Varandei – 0.7 million tonnes (-9.9%).

The ports of the Baltic Sea Basin handled 19.8 million tonnes (-4.0%) including 8.7 million tonnes of dry bulk cargo (+19.5%) and 11.0 million tonnes of liquid bulk cargo (-16.9%). The port of Ust-Luga handled 8.6 million tonnes (+5.8%), Primorsk – 3.7 million tonnes (-34.1%), Big Port St. Petersburg – 4.4 million tonnes (+8.5%), Vysotsk – 1.7 million tonnes (+12.5%).

Throughput of seaports in the Azov-Black Sea Basin totaled 19.8 million tonnes (-0.1%) including 7.7 million tonnes of dry bulk cargo (+0.1%) and 12.0 million tonnes of liquid bulk cargo (-0.2%). The port of Novorossiysk handled 12.2 million tonnes (+5.4%), Tuapse – 2.1 million tonnes (-5.0%), Kavkaz – 1.3 million tonnes (-23.8%), Taman – 1.0 million tonnes (-16.9%), Rostov-on-Don – 1.0 million tonnes (+12.3%), Kerch – 0.6 million tonnes (-12.6%).

The ports of the Far East Basin handled 426,000 t (+45.9%) including 240,000 t of dry bulk cargo (+9.3%) and 185,000 t of liquid bulk cargo (+157.7%). The port of Makhachkala handled 237,000 t (+237.6%), Astrakhan – 157,000 (-22.3%), Olya – 30,000 (+63.9%).

The ports of the Far East Basin handled 15.2 million tonnes (+1.8%) including 8.7 million tonnes of dry bulk cargo (+6.4%) and 6.4 million tonnes of liquid bulk cargo (-3.9%). Port Vostochny handled 5.5 million tonnes (-0.1%), Vanino – 2.3 million tonnes (+15.8%), Nakhodka – 1.8 million tonnes (-6.3%), Prigorodnoye – 1.5 million tonnes (-8.5%), Vladivostok – 1.5 million tonnes (+25.6%), Posiet – 0.5 million tonnes (-17.9%), De-Castri – 1.0 million tonnes (+9.6 %).

Association of Commercial Sea Ports (ASOP) set up in 1987 unites over 50 organizations and enterprises of Russia’s maritime transport. ASOP comprises commercial seaports, forwarding and agency companies, scientific research institutes and marine educational institutions. Operational results of Russian port sector are based on statistics reports and cover all stevedoring companies operating in the Russian Federation.
