Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan agree port capacity expansion

Friday, 19 February 2016 | 12:00

Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan have agreed to increase cargo capacity of their ports.

Azerbaijani sources say that this issue was the key one within the framework of the Baku visit of Kazakh Deputy Prime Minister Bakhytzhan Sagintayev.

“The parties are ready to increase the throughput capacity of ports Baku/Alyat and Aktau. How this will be implemented is the question with taking into account the anti-crisis program in Kazakhstan,” the source said.

In his opinion, implementation of two countries’ plans on transit capacity increase will depend on that.
