Temporary loading facility at former Kai Tak Airport runway

A temporary loading facility has been established at the former Kai Tak Airport Runway. The temporary loading facility will operate for a period of approximately 9 months.

One tugboat, two split hopper barges, one derrick barge and one flat top barge will berth at the facility within the operation area bounded by straight lines joining the following co-ordinates (WGS 84 Datum) from (A) to (D) and the adjacent shoreline for loading operation:
(A) 22 deg. 18.948’N / 114 deg. 12.092’E
(B) 22 deg. 18.881’N / 114 deg. 12.022’E
(C) 22 deg. 19.008’N / 114 deg. 11.879’E
(D) 22 deg. 19.076’N / 114 deg. 11.950’E

The hours of operation will be from 0700 to 1900 hours. No operation will be carried out on Sundays and public holidays. Vessels engaged in the operation will stay in the operation area outside the hours of operation.

Canal announces upcoming 2018-2019 Cruise Season

The Panama Canal announced that it expects to receive approximately 234 cruise ships through the Panamax and Neopanamax Locks during the upcoming 2018-2019 cruise season…

“As the second full cruise season with the Expanded Canal, we aim to build off our recent milestones and success,” said Panama Canal’s Senior International Trade Specialist Albano G. Aguilar. “In the next year, we look forward to welcoming more than 237,000 passengers through the Panama Canal.”

Ten new cruise ships will transit either the Canal’s Panamax or Neopanamax Locks for the first time this season…
